A steep drive to the car park with surrounding views of the Warrambungles. Short steep path to the observatory building, then you can take the lift or stairs up to the enclosed public viewing area, which has informative displays and excellent views of the telescope. The viewing area is large enough for a few carloads of tourists

Such an incredible place! Went on a tour of the site where we were shown the observatories and beautiful surrounding landscape. The guide was very knowledgeable about different telescopes and functions. I'm keen to look further into the remarkable work that comes out of this place and what impact it has had on our understanding of the universe. Amazing!

Very informative. This is a working astronomy site so night tours are not available. Free to go up to the viewing deck and see the telescope and learn about the history of it.

This Observatory borders the Warrumbungle National Park and is definitely worth a visit. Not only does it provide great views of the NP, the Observatory itself is interesting and educational. We did a self guided tour, taking about an hour to view and read all that was on offer. Not sure if guided tours are on offer but would certainly enhance the experience. Would recommend taking a coat if visiting, regardless of prevailing weather or time of year as the site is very exposed to strong wind. Also a great coffee shop situated near the car park.

Siding Spring Observatory, situated about 27kms out of the Coonabarabran township, & nestled amongst the Warrumbungles. Huge telescope, which is viewed from level 4, take the lift, great informative displays within the visitors centre as well as a cafe for light snacks & souviners, a great way too spend some time in a peaceful environment, with awesome views. Highy recommended. Enjoy!

A few bucks to get a more informative tour through the gallery.
