We stayed in Coonabarabran overnight on the way to Western Plains Zoo and also to visit the Warrumbungle Observatory. We saw this restaurant driving past and we decided that we both liked Chinese food so we would give it ago.

We walked in at 7pm. Service was below average. We appeared to be a low priority. Orders were taken at 7.30pm for two simple dishes. Food was served to us at 8.20pm it was hot but not the best dishes we'd experienced. We had to be at the Observatory at 8.30pm. So we ate what we could and left. If the food was up to standard I might have asked to take it with us but we didn't worry.

Returning to Queensland from Dubbo, we stopped nearby and discovered this hidden gem. Simply fabulous food and service. Authentic. Pretty well booked too.....on a Sunday night!! I will make this a night stop each time travel is needed. Highly recommend the Golden Sea Dragon.

Food wise this place is FIVE STAR, and most of staff were great, it is a shame that a few (three in particular) really let this place down. When pork ribs with a plumb sauce ordered comes out described differently, we dared questioned, and first waitress informed us it was certainly not pork, just to have second return the plate and state it was, she told us it was, and why would we question. Very abrubt. Very rude and made us all uncomfortable. It tasted great - so in it self no loss - but a unneeded downfall to the night. Request for chopsticks met with sighs of the bother, and after waiting 10 minutes (i timed it) went to front counter to ask for even a take away set. Waitress clearly annoyed and frustrated at us for the second followup, and as she left to back of house complained loudly to other staff how much of a bother we were being. Not acceptable in earshot to do this. Again - food great, some staff great - rest.... Well.. I would of walked out if food wasn't so good. Shame.

Beef and vegetables was like a canned sweet and sour with rock hard carrot onion, tinned baby corn, rubbish.

The decor and building itself is a sight - dated but its what drew us in. Overall I would not eat here again.

Good standard Chinese. Nothing special but not bad. Beer is cold. Staff friendly. And an extra star for the exceptional decor
